REGISTRATION FOR 2020/21 SEASON NOW OPEN
2020-2021 SEASON LAUNCH: MUSIC AT THE DISTANCE, CULTURE WITHOUT BORDERS
TO CAMPANELLA "OLD" AND NEW STUDENTS AND PARENTS:
Thank you for being with Campanella and keeping music the part of your everyday life during these uneasy times. However crazy or inconvenient this time might feel for all of us, we want to ensure you that Campanella is adapting to these new circumstances to provide the same learning experience to all our students.
We are glad to welcome our current students back, and happy to see new students joining our Campanella family! Please check the new semester information below. We had to make some changes to the structure of the choirs and the learning process due to current circumstances and restrictions.
As always, we are dedicated to provide an enjoyable and safe environment during our practices.
FALL 2020 CAMPANELLA PROGRAMS OVERVIEW:
Fall Semester 2020-21: September 12-January 17
Registration deadline: 09/01/2020
No classes: November 26-27; December 24-January 3
This fall, Campanella is offering Choir, Art, and Russian language programs in a hybrid (online + some small group in person) settings.
This semester we’ll have four choir groups at Campanella: Concert, Harmony, Prelude, and Beginners.
NEW PROGRAM ADDED BY HIGH DEMAND: GOOD NIGHT WITH CLASSICAL MUSIC
Online Zoom presentation: evening classical music program for 8-9 year olds.
Because we can't predict how the events will unfold throughout the year, we only offer registration per semester. We will keep you posted on our plans for the Spring semester.
OUTSIDE IN-PERSON REHEARSALS:
For the small-group in person rehearsals, we have arranged an outdoor space under the tent at the North Suburban YMCA lawn.
North Suburban YMCA, 2705 Techny Rd, Northbrook, IL 60062
Campanella banner will be put at the YMCA parking entrance, look for the large white tent on the lawn by the south side of the building.
So far we have an agreement to use the space until November (weather permitting, we might stay there longer or shorter). The space is equipped with a sturdy tent, and benches/chairs.
The inside YMCA restrooms are accessible to the students. Hand sanitizer and disposable masks will be provided. We will be wearing masks and keep a 6’ distance during the outside activities.
With the goal of keeping students safe while providing the best possible learning opportunities, we had to make some changes in the choir roster and schedules. While the overall time students spend with the choir director has shortened, the smaller group settings and more intensive program will result in more productive and rewarding rehearsals. The waiting for their turn during their rehearsal time will be eliminated in the small group in-person and online classes.
Online art classes will cover drawing and painting techniques, studying paint works of different epochs, and will partially support our new exciting musical theater project.
The time slots are organized so there will be no time conflict between choir and art classes.
Online Russian language enrichment classes will continue their wonderful journey into great Russian language and literature.
Additional individual rehearsals with Marianna (contact firstname.lastname@example.org), or individual art classes with Anna (contact email@example.com) can be arranged.
Some pricing changes reflect the changes in the weekly schedule and eliminated facility rent. Campanella offers the lowest possible prices for the unique cultural education of the children, we hope you understand and appreciate this.
This year we have changed our discount calculations. Instead of offering a percentage off we are waiving the $35 registration fee for siblings. Registration fee of $35 per family will be included in your invoice. The registration fee will be collected once per season, so when the Spring semester registration is open, the registration fee will be applied only to new students that register for spring.
VIRTUAL CHOIR END OF SEMESTER PROJECT:
We will also offer an option to participate in the virtual choir for an additional fee of $50 per singer, to be collected in the middle of semester.
Campanella choir audition is a simple process where we get to know each other and determine the singer's level and readiness. This year it's even easier because we Zoom auditions :)
Singers do not need to prepare anything for an audition.
Please contact our Choir Director Marianna Kosaya (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule an online audition.
GOOD NIGHT WITH CLASSICAL MUSIC
AMAZING SUMMER PROGRAM WILL CONTINUE INTO FALL!
Online Zoom presentation: evening classical music programs for 3-4 and 5-10 year olds.
Goodnight with Classical Music storytelling sessions use beautiful illustrations, art masterpieces, and classical music to immerse in the magical worlds of Hans Christian Andersen, Rudyard Kipling, and World folclore. We will lead guided listening to the music of Dimitry Shostakovich, Bobby McFerrin, Sergei Prokofiev, Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy and others.
FALL 2020 YOUNG CHOIR PROGRAMS
IN THE YOUNGEST GROUPS,
Beginners and Prelude, children learn to appreciate music, listen to their own voice and to the choir, sing in tune (matching pitch), and develop articulation, focusing on the major vowels and consonants.
They are guided on proper breathing while singing, and play with simple percussion instruments to develop a sense of rhythm and rhythmic coordination through fun and dynamic age appropriate activities.
FALL 2020 TOP CHOIR PROGRAMS
explores the joy of musical expression and the self-esteem that grows from skillful choral singing. Singers work on establishing healthy singing and breathing habits, singing with good intonation, and learning to read musical notation. Students learn to sing in unison and in two parts, enhance articulation, focusing on the major vowels and consonants, learn to manage breathing when singing and control the evenness of sound.
CAMPANELLA CONCERT CHOIR IS AN AWARD-WINNING ENSEMBLE,
trained to perform at a professional level. Choristers achieve excellence in musicianship, develop personal character, and gain leadership skills.
Singers perfect their ability to produce a musical phrase, emphasizing vowel production and blend, learn to control and nuance tone quality, and perfect the ability to control breathing when singing complex repertoire. They develop vocal and musical skills through the rehearsal and performance of many different styles of music: classical, world music, gospel, jazz, and improvisation.
FALL 2020 ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS
IN ADDITION TO YOUTH CHORAL SINGING,
Campanella offers additional enrichment programs for the choristers and general public. Art/Drawing/Painting and Russian Language Enrichment are part of the Campanella cultural mission. These classes greatly supplement the choir program, offering children more opportunities to broaden their cultural and artistic horizons.
