Spring 2020 registration now open

Ages 5 to 18

Instructor: Anna Gnoenskaya

Get ready to embark on a magical journey across the inner and outer world. We'll be drawing the seen and the imagined, looking at the world through the lens of different styles, techniques and limitless artistic flourishes. We will bring our innermost fantasies and dreams to life by putting them on paper. We will extend our hand to all the artists that lived before us and create our own versions of their great masterpieces. We will draw portraits, landscapes, still life and genre scenes.

Children will have a chance to try out their talent using a variety of techniques until they find the one that will offer them the best way to express themselves. They will gain skills based on perspective and figure building, chiaroscuro and color coordination.

In this program, we seek to do more than teach children specific skills. We want to show them how to see the world though a different set of eyes, to notice details, savor the color and form, the interplay of light and shadow, the landscapes and architecture. We want them to appreciate it on a more transcendent, more enlightened level, which will make their lives richer and more beautiful.

Part of the curriculum will be in support of the Choir projects: creating illustrations, costume and decoration sketches, slide shows and animated presentations to be projected on the big screen, and to be displayed in the hallway during choir performances.
