REGISTRATION FOR 2020/21 SEASON NOW OPEN!

FALL 2020 CAMPANELLA PROGRAMS OVERVIEW:

Fall Semester 2020-21: September 12-January 17

No classes: November 26-27; December 24-January 3

This fall Campanella is offering Choir, Art, and Russian language programs in a hybrid (online + some small group in person) settings. Art classes will support our new exciting choir-theater project.

For the small-group in person rehearsals, we have arranged an outdoor space at the YMCA lawn, so far we have an agreement to use the space until November (weather permitting, we might stay there longer or shorter). The space is equipped with a sturdy tent, benches/chairs. The inside YMCA restrooms are accessible to the students. Hand sanitizer and disposable masks will be provided. We will be wearing masks and keep a 6’ distance during the outside activities.

With the goal of keeping students safe while providing the best possible learning opportunities, we had to make some changes in the choir roster and schedules. While the overall time students spend with the choir director has shortened, the smaller group settings and more intensive program will result in more productive and rewarding rehearsals. The waiting for their turn during their rehearsal time will be eliminated in the small group in-person and online classes.

This semester we’ll have four choir groups at Campanella: Concert, Harmony, Prelude, and Beginners.

Additional individual rehearsals with Marianna (contact marianna@campanellacenter.org), or individual art classes with Anna (contact anna@campanellacenter.org) can be arranged.

This year we have changed our discount calculations. Instead of offering a percentage off we are waiving the $35 registration fee for siblings.

Registration fee of $35 per family will be included in your invoice. We will also offer an option to participate in the virtual choir for an additional fee of $50 per singer to be collected in the middle of semester.

AUDITION
CAMPANELLA CHILDREN'S CHOIR IS OPEN TO CHILDREN 3 TO 16+

Each of Campanella's choir ensembles offer escalating, age-appropriate levels of challenge, preparing choristers for the next step. Participation in each ensemble is designed to bring a rewarding experience, and offers enriching rehearsal and performance opportunities.

Campanella choir audition is a simple process where we get to know each other and determine the singer's level and readiness. Singers do not need to prepare anything for an audition.

Beginners
Prelude 1
THE YOUNGEST SINGERS
IN THE YOUNGEST GROUPS,

Beginners and Prelude I, children learn to appreciate music, listen to their own voice and to the choir, sing in tune (matching pitch), and develop articulation, focusing on the major vowels and consonants.

They are guided on proper breathing while singing, and play with simple percussion instruments to develop a sense of rhythm and rhythmic coordination through fun and dynamic age appropriate activities.

THE NEXT STEPS
AT THE NEXT STEP, PRELUDE II,

children continue developing music-making skills. At this level choristers improve the ability to sing in tune, learn to manage breathing when singing, and enhance articulation, focusing on the major vowels and consonants. They learn one part and two-part songs and simple canons, and perfect their sense of rhythm through rhythmic activities and games.

HARMONY CHOIR

explores the joy of musical expression and the self-esteem that grows from skillful choral singing. Singers work on establishing healthy singing and breathing habits, singing with good intonation, and learning to read musical notation. Students learn to sing in unison and in two parts, enhance articulation, focusing on the major vowels and consonants, learn to manage breathing when singing and control the evenness of sound.

At this level students join the Concert Choir in performances and festivals, singing and learning side-by-side with the elite Campanella ensemble.

THE ELITE ENSEMBLE
CAMPANELLA CONCERT CHOIR IS AN AWARD-WINNING ENSEMBLE,

trained to perform at a professional level. Choristers achieve excellence in musicianship, develop personal character, and gain leadership skills.

Singers perfect their ability to produce a musical phrase, emphasizing vowel production and blend, learn to control and nuance tone quality, and perfect the ability to control breathing when singing complex repertoire. They develop vocal and musical skills through the rehearsal and performance of many different styles of music: classical, world music, gospel, jazz, and improvisation.

Throughout the season Concert Choir has recording opportunities and perform in front of large audiences and in prestigious venues. Campanella Concert Ensemble participates in local and national music festivals on a competitive level, using every opportunity to broaden children's cultural horizons and help them grow artistically and personally.
