LET MUSIC HELP US STAY CONNECTED!
THIS SUMMER CAMPANELLA COMES TO YOUR HOME!
Of course, we would LOVE to resume our usual choir and summer camp activities instantly, but for now, while we are still under the COVID-19 restrictions, let's connect with music and with each other virtually.
We'll be using Zoom for all virtual meetings, the links will be sent to registrants in advance.
Registration deadline: August 13th
Sibling discounts:
50% off* if registering siblings for the same program, and they will be sharing the same screen.
10% off* if registering siblings for different programs.
Music appreciation and understanding is the essential part of musical education for all ages.
Knowing the composer’s biography and the historical context in which the music was written is usually missing from many school’s curricula, but is very valuable for students learning singing or playing an instrument.
That’s why the artistic director and choirmaster of Campanella Children's Choir Marianna Kosaya, with the assistance of Andrew Magid (current undergraduate of Columbia University in New York), are offering two new exciting types of courses tailored to students of different ages: the Music Appreciation Class and the Imaginative Story Telling sessions.
Our second Music Appreciation course consists of five 1-hour long interactive online classes that include listening to music pieces, and also creative drawing, writing and music notation. We examine composers’ biographies, the time periods, and the genres of music. We will cover the intersection of improvisation and polyphony from the baroque to jazz era. Ages 9+.
We also offer our 30-minutes “Goodnight Little Ones” imaginative story telling sessions for ages 3-5, and 6-7, and “Goodnight with Classical Music” class for ages 8-9.
We will be reading tales by Hans Christian Andersen, Rudyard Kipling, and Slavic folklore. The stories will be accompanied by beautiful illustrations and music by Dimitry Shostakovich, Bobby McFerrin, Sergei Prokofiev, and others. We will discuss the stories and dig for the life lessons in them.
We are looking forward to seeing you in our Extended Summer classes!
