A Creative Journey with Campanella
On March 15th, Campanella hosted a deeply meaningful stained glass workshop titled Healing Harmony: Restoring Broken Glass. Led by renowned stained glass artist Rita Shimelfarb, the workshop invited 24 children—and several enthusiastic parents—into a hands-on exploration of how broken pieces can become something whole, beautiful, and expressive.
The event was more than just an art class—it was a journey through transformation and creativity. Each child created their own unique design, drawing inspiration from themes of resilience, hope, and harmony.
The atmosphere buzzed with joy and concentration as children and parents worked side by side, supported by Rita’s gentle guidance and artistic insight. Parents remarked on how moving it was to watch their children not only learn a new skill but also engage in a process of thoughtful creativity and healing.
This special engagement was supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Illinois Arts Council. We’re incredibly grateful for their support in making this experience possible for our community.
Healing Harmony: Restoring Broken Glass reminded us all that art has the power not only to create beauty, but to heal, inspire, and bring people together.
