CONCERT CHOIR AND CHAMBER ENSEMBLE PROGRAM SCHEDULE, OVERVIEW, AND REGISTRATION
Ages 11-18
Instructor: Marianna Kosaya
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
CONCERT CHOIR
The Concert Choir trains young singers to perform at a professional level, with a strong focus on vocal technique, musical expression, and personal growth. Singers develop refined control of tone, breath, phrasing, vowel production, and blend, learning to sing with nuance and confidence across a variety of musical styles.
Repertoire includes classical, world music, gospel, jazz, and improvisation, helping students become versatile, well-rounded musicians. In the process, they build leadership skills, ensemble awareness, and artistic discipline—preparing them for high-level performance and collaboration.
MUSIC THEORY & CLASSICAL MUSIC EDUCATION
This course strengthens each student’s understanding of the foundational elements of music. Topics include notation, rhythm, scales, key signatures, intervals, chords, and beginning-level ear training, dictation, and sight-singing.
The course also introduces students to classical music appreciation, including the biographies of composers and the historical and cultural contexts of their works—deepening their connection to the music they perform.
CHAMBER ENSEMBLE
The Chamber Ensemble offers advanced Concert Choir members the opportunity to explore multi-part repertoire requiring vocal independence, precision, and close ensemble work. Singers rehearse and perform pieces from the Renaissance to contemporary periods, both with and without accompaniment.
Enrollment in the Concert Choir is required for participation. The Chamber Ensemble is designed for students seeking a deeper musical challenge and a collaborative, artistically focused experience.
Every choir member can become a soloist, to be arranged with the Choir Director.
The Concert choir group participates in local, national, and international music events, travel is anticipated, travel expenses are not included in tuition.
To ease the financial burden, Campanella Concert choir group performs throughout the season at various locations as a hired entertainment, all proceeds support choir festival participation expenses.
